Colchester is a pleasant, well-heeled suburb just north of Burlington. Affectionately known to locals as "The Heart of Lake Champlain," Colchester's city limits encompass some of the most beautiful parts of the eastern shoreline of the lake with its twenty-two some miles of waterfront, giving its resident plenty of aquatic action be it on the water or under it swimming or scubadiving. In addition to easy access to the waterfront, numerous boat launches and its numerous marinas, the town is dotted with well over a dozen neighborhood parks and natural areas, which offer everything from pleasant day trips to the lake to hikes that challenge even the most seasoned outdoor explorer.
Milton is a thriving suburb in northwest Chittenden County. Supposedly named for the celebrated poet, John Milton, the town has been a fixture of the New England landscape since before the War for Independence. The town is comprised of Milton itself in the east as well as the communities of Cozy Corner, West View, Checkerberry Village, and West Milton. To the southwest, the Lamoille River flows into Lake Champlain. Bombardier Park, Eagle Mountain, and Milton Town Forest are some of the attractions, as well as local neighborhood parks and recreational areas scattered throughout the region.
