The historic hamlet of Essex has a classic New England public green complete with a colonial-style steeple in the town's center. The public transit system provides access to most parts of the locale. Downtown is characterized by excellent local restaurants and a low-key but vibrant local nightlife to meet up with friends and neighbors alike, all of which are buoyed by its continually growing local economy. With Burlington to the north and Montpelier to the south, a day trip is not out of the question on a bright sunny day, or if snow is your thing, a walk in the quiet, peaceful streets of Essex can be inspiring, invigorating, and relaxing. Montreal is just a three-hour's drive away.
